A DAY IN THE LIFE
We're shining the spotlight on some of our employees and asking them, what's it like to work at PBC?

Aden
Apprentice - Carpenter
Whats an average day like?
An average day starts at 7am. I get to do loads of different things, framing, installing skirting, and concreting to name a few and this can all happen in one week.
What do you love about your job?
As an apprentice, I'm expected to ask for help if I don't know something, this means there is always someone who can help me learn so I become really skilled.
What's the worst part of your job?
Cleaning! Haha, definitely cleaning. I know it's a part of the job for everyone on a building site, but I don't like being off the tools.

Mel
Finance Manager
Whats an average day like?
An average day for me starts with checking messages, opening mail, responding to daily communication and reviewing my daily priorities. I also delegate work to my assistant.
What do you love about your job?
I get a deep sense of satisfaction from being able to improve processes and procedures that make life easier for everyone.
What's the worst part of your job?
We get a lot of sales calls from time to time and these break my focus. I am a deep thinker, so I would like more time to process information or make decisions, but I don't always have that luxury.
THIS COULD BE YOU!
There are jobs, and then there are careers. The opportunity to challenge yourself and learn new skills. The prospect of being surrounded by smart, ambitious, motivated people. That's the kind of work you can expect to do at PBC.

Dan
Tradesman - Carpenter
Whats an average day like?
An average day for me starts with looking at plans, prepping any tools or materials for the days work and catching up with my site foreman or supervisor. The main thing is to make sure there have been no changes and you understand any safety issues before you start.
What do you love about your job?
Getting to work on a job site for the entire duration of a project and seeing the finished product, knowing you had a big part of that creation.
What's the worst part of your job?
I really can't think of anything, I love my trade and the variety it brings.

Trav
Building Designer
Whats an average day like?
We have many projects at differing stages, all with individual demands, so I respond to design opportunities, challenges within a design process and coordinate the project demands. I also regularly attend meeting with clients, local authorities and the project teams.
What do you love about your job?
I get a lot of satisfaction knowing that I am contributing to society by offering aesthetically pleasing and functional buildings.
What's the most challenging part of your job?
Between the original concept stage and construction there is a lot of management and co-ordination with trades, councils, tendering etc. which takes a lot of care.
